In a recent lightening storm, a huge oak tree in a field not far from the barn I work in had a huge part of the tree blasted to the ground. I know the farmer well and it wasn't long before the chainsaw was out and I was busy chopping bits of wood to see me through Winter.
I had quite a few branches and decided they'd make some nice coasters. I simply cut them to size, sealed them and once they were dry (By Kiln)
I made sure they were completely level then poured a nice batch of table top epoxy resin. Once dry I applied the baize to the base and hey presto, a massive fallen down oak branch put to good use. I've made an ton of these so far!
